Camps Bay Shops and Services

Anything from groceries to medical assistance

.and massage treatments can be found just a stone's throw from Camps Bay beach and our luxury Camps Bay holiday villas and apartments. The "Promenade" is the main shopping centre right on the Camps Bay beachfront, Victoria Road.

Here are the main shops and other services you will find in Camps Bay:

Supermarket/Provisions - the good-size Pick 'n Pay supermarket on Victoria Road is open from 8am to 8pm Mondays to Sundays and stocks a wide range of food and household provisions. Wine and alcohol is not sold in Camps Bay, you need to drive five minutes over the mountain into Cape Town for this (Harley's Liquor Store on Buitengracht street being the closest option).

When Pick N Pay is closed, you can still buy milk, papers and basic food provisions at Buena Vita 7/11 Store not far up the main Camps Bay Drive from the beachfront traffic lights. Open from 7am to 7pm every day. Also useful is the Star Mart in the main Caltex garage on Victoria Road by Camps Bay beach. This small garage store is open 24 hours per day and sells papers, milk, phone vouchers etc.

Chemist - The well-stocked Lite-Kem Pharmacy is located in the Promenade shopping mall above Pick N Pay and is open from 7am to 7pm from Mondays to Saturdays and 9am to 7pm on Sundays.

Medical Services - Visitors can make an appointment to see the medical doctor on duty in the surgery within the Lite-Kem Pharmacy in the Promenade shopping mall above Pick N Pay. Open 9am to 5pm Mondays to Fridays. There is also a Chiropractor and Optician close by in the same shopping mall.

Treatments - For those looking to relax and be pampered, Camps Bay has an excellent massage and body treatment centre, the Bay Skin Care Institute in the Promenade shopping centre. A hairdressing salon is also available.

Post Office - located in the Buena Vita 7/11 store on the corner of Camps Bay Drive and Rottingdean Road. Open from 9.00am to 4.00pm Mondays - Fridays; 8am to 12pm on Saturdays.

Parking - free parking is available on Camps Bay beachfront and the streets leading back from it (although it is usual to tip the local parking attendants a few Rand as you leave). There is also a multi-storey car parking facility where you can pay to park in the main Promenade shopping centre on the beachfront, next to Paranga restaurant.

Petrol Station - Camps Bay has two, there is a Caltex garage located on the main beach road (Victoria Road) and a Shell garage on Rontree Avenue, which you see just off to your right as you drive up Camps Bay Drive from the beach.

Currency Exchange/ATM - There is no bank in Camps Bay but there is a foreign exchange counter in the Promenade shopping centre above Pick N Pay, as well as three ATM machines and an American Express Foreign Exchange counter in the shopping arcade next to Summerville restaurant, and yet another ATM in the Star Mart store in the Caltex garage (open 24 hours).

Camps Bay Police Station is located on Victoria Road, 100 metres beyond the traffic lights going out of Camps Bay away from town. There are also three private security companies operating in the area that between them provide 24 hour alarm response and para-medic assistance at most of our properties.

Church Services - Camps Bay has three churches (Saint Peter's Anglican Church, Saint Theresa's Catholic Church and Camps Bay United Church) and a synagogue.

Video Store - Visitors can rent DVD's and videos from the Pyramid Video Store in the row of shops behind Pick N Pay car park (open 9.00am to 9.00pm). Simply take along your passport/ID and the address of the villa or apartment where you are staying.

Internet Café - Temptingly located in the Sinnfull Ice-Cream store in the Promenade Shopping Centre.

Clothing/Other Camps Bay shops - Camps Bay beachfront also has several clothing stores, selling mostly beachwear, sunglasses and sun tanning lotion, the largest being Sport 'n Surf next to Summerville restaurant, as well as an art gallery and jewellery store in the Promenade shopping centre.
