Camps Bay Attractions

Camps Bay, Cape Town attractions

Camps Bay, Cape Town really has it all for the visitor to "The Mother City" wanting beautiful surroundings in which to relax very close to the city's many tourist attractions. It is the perfect base for all manner of enticing full and half-day trips including to the Cape Winelands, the Cape Peninsula and the many beaches and golf courses close by, or to some of the other attractions further afield in the Western Cape.

The spectacular setting of this exclusive sea-side resort of about 5000 homes is hard to beat. Nestled on the steep lower slopes of the dramatic Twelve Apostles Mountains that back onto Table Mountain and with the craggy peak of Lion's Head mountain overlooking the bay to one side, Camps Bay boasts an unrivalled combination of dramatic mountain and ocean views at every turn.

On the lower level of Camps Bay the steep residential streets give way to a small and lively beachfront "village" with a year-round holiday feel where locals and visitors alike come to relax and eat good food, drink local wines and cocktails and enjoy the laid-back "beach vibe" that reminds many of California, Australia or the South of France but is uniquely Camps Bay. There are around 20 local restaurants to choose from on the main beachfront promenade, as well as many bars, shops and other local services and Camps Bay also offers an exciting, lively nightlife for the young at heart!

Camps Bay beach itself has many moods and serves many purposes. A kilometre long stretch of golden sand lined with palm trees along the beachfront promenade, the beach is rarely over-crowded but always being enjoyed, whether by early morning joggers and cyclists along the promenade, beach volley ball and touch rugby enthusiasts or production teams working on the latest model shoot. Most beach goers are just regular locals, visitors and families who come to relax and enjoy the Mediterranean Cape Town climate in this most spectacular of beach settings, whatever the season or time of day, often most dramatically as the sun starts to set over the ocean and the protective mountain ranges above and behind the beach soften through various gorgeous hues of red and gold.

For the visitor looking to rent a property in the area, Camps Bay is still a relatively young and exciting Cape Town neighbourhood, developed in any significant way only in the past few decades. As such the housing is mostly very modern and stylish with many magnificently luxurious holiday villas and newly designed apartments that have sprung up only in the past 5-10 years as Camps Bay has started to attract the local and international attention it deserves as one of the truly great parts of the world in which to holiday and live. This also makes it an increasingly popular property sales destination where you can purchase your dream holiday home or retirement property.

As area specialists in Camps Bay, we are lucky enough to know and work with the very best holiday villas and apartments available and look forward to helping you find the perfect "home away from home" in this very special part of the world!
